Mikey is home; Annie dance day and piano.

(August 2013) Sunday 4th – Mikey is home

Jasmin is so excited.  Mikey is on his home from Denmark.  He has been at a table tennis training camp for three weeks and she has really missed him.

Lots of pictures have been drawn and constantly asking when Mikey will arrive home.

Dad took Jasmin to meet Mikey and Sam at the train station.  She gave him the biggest of hugs and wouldn’t leave him alone.  Mikey had to take her to bed and give her a story (or three!).   He brought her a Moshi Monster Book and Pens as a present too.  I think they will be really treasured.

She has such an amazing relationship with all her brothers, a very lucky girl.

(August 2013) Monday 5th – Annie Dance Theatre Day

Today, Jasmin was very excited, dance theatre day.  Her friend Pheobie was dropped off for a quick play beforehand. It was lovely hearing them giggling and getting all excited about the day.

Miss Kate was running a jazz workshop, learning some of the dances and music from Annie.  It was a full day workshop so quite a big thing.

It was lovely going back to pick her up.  We were able to see everything they had learnt and it was very sweet and they all did so well.

We have ordered the copy of Annie so I am looking forward to watching it with her.

Jasmin is also very excited as she will be taking jazz classes in September alongside her tap and ballet.

Piano

I honestly didn’t think Jasmin would be up to her piano lesson after her dance day, but she was.  Her piano teacher said she did really well.  So a fab end to the day made even better by a story before bed from dad.

Roller Blading

(August 2013) Saturday 2nd – Roller Blades (Silver Blades)

Today was one of Jasmin’s friends birthday.  She wanted to make some bracelets to wear before she went.

The party was at Silver Blades. It brought back fond memories for me of when I was a teenager and used to go to ice skating discos on a Saturday.

It is now a roller blade rink.

Jasmin was unsure at first and wanted to put on roller boots rather than inline skates, but with some encouragement she went with the inline option.  Luckily it wasn’t very busy and that gave Jasmin the space she needed to get her balance sorted out.  It wasn’t long before she was zooming around and dancing to the music.

I struggled to keep up with her.

She can’t wait to go again and has been pestering her dad for some inline skates now.

I wish I had taken some pictures.

Skipping

Hop Skip and Jump

Hop, Skip and Jump
Tie the rope around the tree trunk
One, two three, four
Can you lift your feet off the floor?

Hop, Skip and Jump
Singing merrily as you go
Can you Jump High and low
 Or Fast and Slow?

Hop, Skip and Jump
Be careful not to bump
Twisting, turning,
Having lots of fun whilst you are learning

Hop Skip and Jump

poem - when walking through the woods

Walking Through the Woods

When walking through the woods, wellington boots are a truly a must
Leaves to kick
Flowers to pick
Places to explore
Insects, crawling on the woodland floor

What can you see?
What can you make?
Is that a branch or maybe even a snake?

Hide and seek with friends
What fun these woods lends

Paths to follow,
Climbing through tree trunks that are hollow.

Streams and stepping stones to cross,
Being careful not to slip upon the moss.

When walking through the woods.

Books, Brothers, Forest School

August (2013) Books

At the moment we are reading “The Owl Who Was Afraid of The Dark” by Jill Tomlinson together. We have got this on CD too.

Jasmin has started to read one of the Rainbow Fairy Early Readers Books, and is really happy with how much she can read on her own.  She loves the Rainbow Fairy Stories and it will be great when she can read them more independently.

Mikey (one of Jasmin’s brothers) – She has three!!

Jasmin has been busy preparing all sorts of pictures and little presents for Mikey, who is coming home from Denmark on Sunday.  She can’t wait and is so excited.   Mikey has been away playing table tennis for three weeks and she has missed him loads.

Forest School – 1st August 2013

I can’t believe how quickly this week has gone by.  A very excited Jasmin today as it is Forest School.
She has packed up some of her gems to show and her recorder so I think it is going to be a very noisy trip.
What a lovely time, Jasmin was so happy to see her friends.  They soon all went off looking at the toadstools growing on the bark of the trees.  The girls decided that these were fairy houses and this made up the theme for most of the play in the woods.
Sand, mud and water was collected to make cement and grass seeds for the floor of the fairy house, along with some gems for decoration.  It is so nice to see how without any guidance they can get lost in their imaginations and come up with the most fab games.
We can’t wait until next week.
