Forest school - Art Sculpture. (Thank you Bethxx)

Forest School (Friday)

In the morning we made some cakes to take to the woods. Jasmin also made some for her brothers.

Forest school was lovely as usual, meeting up and playing with friends.

This week one of the mums, Beth, helped the children make a spiral art sculpture in the woods.  The children helped by collecting the sticks together and treasure to place in the middle of the structure.  Beth then started to show them how to start building, by placing the larger sticks in the middle and working around in a spiral with the small sticks.

I would never have thought about building art structures in the woods.  A great idea Beth, thank you.xxx

Jasmin wants to see if the structure is still there next week!!

Tissue Paper Art

Tissue paper Art

I stumbled on this by chance when I went to buy the chalkboards and bubbles. Creating pictures by using tissue paper squares and following the picture on the boards they provide.   There were lots of different designs, we chose the giraffe and the butterfly.

It will be really good to see Jasmin come up with her own designs.

Play day

A garden full of friends (Thursday)

I love play days on Thursday, Jasmin had her friends over to play for the day.  Sophie Ella, Alfie, Anya and Martha.  The weather was lovely.  The time was spent making up games, playing with the sand in the sandpit; in and out of the playhouse, and bouncing on the trampoline.  We had also bought chalkboards and bubbles for everybody to play with.

There were lots of butterflies and bees around too, which was just great to see.

Mikey had managed to build the picnic bench in time, so we had enough spaces for everybody to sit and have lunch.

Jasmin’s nan and granddad had brought Charlie and Daniel over for a short while too. ( Jasmin’s cousins).

I am so glad we went for a playhouse in the garden, it has really made such an amazing space.

Ice Skating, and Park Days

(August 2013) – Tuesday 6th

Gosh we have had such a busy day today, but it was lots of fun.

Ice Skating

This morning Jasmin had her ice skating lesson with Paul, who isn’t her usual coach but the lesson went very well.

After asking me what she needed to concentrate on, he quickly got started with backwards skating, which isn’t Jasmin’s favourite thing to do on the ice.

Paul watched her and corrected her and she soon became a lot happier. She even managed some small one legged backwards skating.

After the lesson her coach said that her problem was she had been taught to do backwards skating doing lemons instead of lifting her feet. This had caused her to slow down and loose her balance.  I am hoping now that she will be able to go more quickly and not worry as much with this particular skill on the ice; especially as this is a feature in the next skating level for her.

Park Visit.

This afternoon we went to our friends Alison who has five children, and walked down to Forge Dam and through to Endcliffe Park.  The children had lots of fun, running off, climbing through the trees.  Talking all the way.

On the path to Endcliffe Park the children spotted some small ducklings, unfortunately we didn’t have any bread to feed them on the way there, but the café, gave us some bread for the return journey.  This was quickly snapped up by the ducklings.  We also saw a heron on the pond.

The park was very busy but we still had lots of fun. Jasmin found her confidence on the big slide.  You have to climb sideways on the top part of the ladder so that was good.  We also bumped into some other friends whom we hadn’t seen for a while, which was a nice surprise.

Walking back was hard as the children were very tired.  Luckily we had stepping stones and a small stream to occupy them for some of the way.

A quick play and a snack at Alison’s and it was tea time and time to leave.

A fab day.xxx
