August 2013 (One of our favourite Walks - Redmires)
With the sun shining we decided to go for a
walk to Redmires, it is an amazing place to go.
Only 15 minutes drive from our house and you feel as though you are in
the middle of the countryside.
Sascha, our labrador ran off in her usual
style, very excited to be able to sniff and explore. Walking through the ferns, which were
unusually high, making us feel as though we were walking through a jungle.
At the bottom of the path we came to the
water, Jasmin thought it looked like a beach.
Sascha went straight into the water.
Unfortunately, she didn’t retrieve her ball but had a great time
splashing about. Jasmin and I paddled in
the edge and went on the small islands to see if we could find any treasure.
Further along the walk, a tiny frog jumped
in front of us, it was really sweet. The
best by far though was the flowers covered in caterpillars, how amazing. We have never seen so many caterpillars. Walking through them we came to thistles and
they full of butterflies we were so lucky to see such a beautiful sight.
After crossing the wooden bridge, we
followed the stone path singing “follow
the yellow brick road” (Jasmin had just
done a dance show of the wizard of oz and was very tired at this point so she
thought we could go and see the wizard to help us get home quickly).
On the way home we just had to stop and get
a well deserved Our Cow Molly Ice Cream.
